Sorry for the long silence. I’ve just returned from a wonderful 10 day trip to Seattle, which entailed eating some of the best sushi I’ve ever had, catching up with multiple friends, and walking through a lava tube on the side of Mount St. Helens. And, naturally, drinking copious amounts of coffee.
But I’m back and back to business…
Quite a few of you joined my newsletter for a free PDF of the Player’s Guide to Norrøngard, but a significant number of people gave me their email and never downloaded the PDF! You should have gotten an email direct from DriveThruRPG. You could check your spam filters, but I want to make sure everyone gets the PDF. And I thought, why not give it to everyone everyone, whether you can hear via a Facebook ad or have been a longtime subscriber? So from now until the end of the month, just click the title above or here for a free PDF! I just want to say thank you to everyone for being part of my newsletter.
Meanwhile, Tales from Stolki’s Hall is in its final week with just 5 days to go. The anthology is funded, doing well, and as I’ve said before, the trade edition is complete. The ePub will go out immediately after Kickstarter releases funding to me, and the trade hardcover will go out very soon after. The PDF and hardcover version of the Deluxe Gamer Edition still has stretch goal material to be added, but the main body of the book and most of the appendices are complete, so I’m hopeful it will release well ahead of its promised November delivery date. This is a fantastic anthology of adult fantasy fiction set in Norrøngard, with stories from Joel Shepherd, Ed Greenwood, K. V. Johansen, Sarah L. Miles, Jon Sprunk, Clay Griffith and Susan Griffith, Rachael Smith, J. Dianne Dotson, Jonathan Anders, and Chris Willrich. The Deluxe edition has an appendix of 5e mechanics so some of the monsters and magic items from the stories can be added to your table. It also features a new mechanic for Fabled Weapons that advance alongside your character according to how they are used. If you haven’t jumped on the campaign, please consider checking it out now.
Meanwhile, congratulations to Kobold Press on the incredible success of their Tales of the Valiant 5e RPG system Kickstarter, which funded yesterday with over one million dollars and ten thousand backers. Tales of the Valiant is an open game system building off of 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons, designed for anyone to use to play or create their games that will be open forever. I plan the next big Thrones & Bones offering to use ToV mechanics, but I’m also one of 8 publishing partners providing adventures for the system as part of the Kickstarter. My contribution, Banner of the Bull, is a 1st level adventure set on the border of Norrøngard that sees adventurers dealing with a “new to the north” threat. If you didn’t join the Kickstarter, you’ll be able to buy Banner of the Bull directly sometime this fall. The adventure is also a prequel to next year’s non-Norrøngard upcoming adventure path, which will begin with A Crisis in Castlebriar. But more on that later.
Right now, we need to see Tales from Stolki’s Hall across the finish line!
I should add that it is absolutely fine to share this post and its free PDF link. The more folks discover Norrøngard the better! Spread the joy!
