Hi all,
It’s been a few weeks since the last newsletter. With the fracturing of social media these days, it sometimes feels like too much to keep up with, and there’s a weird sense that you’re letting your side down if you aren’t active on all the various platforms.
But the truth is I’ve been very active on my actual work! Nose to the grindstone on both immediate projects!
With that, I’m happy to report that Tales from Stolki’s Hall is nearing the finished line. The eBook is complete. The trade hardcover is complete, and final proof copies have been ordered from the US and UK printers. The UK version actually arrived first, and I’m just waiting on the US one. And the Deluxe Gamer Edition is done except for the final addition of NPCs based on backer likenesses. I’m hoping to send the Backerkit surveys out in August, and deliver everything in August/September ahead of schedule.
If you missed out on Tales from Stolki’s Hall and want in, you can visit the pre-order store now. (If you’re a backer, please wait for your Backerkit surveys to add to your order.)
Meanwhile, I’m equally hard at work on Banner of the Bull, the 1st level adventure for Kobold Press’s forthcoming Tales of the Valiant roleplaying game, a 5e alternative to D&D that I’m quite excited about. Banner of the Bull is one of ten adventures offered in a special Partner Pack add-on in Kobold’s recent Kickstarter. It’s set in Norrøngard, but it teases events related to my upcoming new adventure path ocurring beyond those frozen lands. Banner of the Bull is my first offering for the new RPG system. The adventure is shaping up to be at least 60 pages long, potentially much longer, and in addition to the adventure itself, it will have setting information, new heritages and lineages appropriate for Norrøngard (ToV’s neat alternative to “race”), and all new original monsters. If you missed out on the Kickstarter, I’ll let you know here when their pledge manager goes up. And again when Banner of the Bull will be made available on DriveThruRGP.
Aside from that, I’m on a 12th Doctor rewatch—Peter Capaldi is hands down my favorite and “Time Heist” might be my favorite all time episode. I’m still recovering from the Barry finale. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was fantastic. And I am very glad that SAG-AFTRA has joined with the WGA strike. Creatives deserve to make a living on their work! Even if you aren’t a writer or actor, you can support the strike by letting the powers that be know you support the writers and actors!
I’m back to the grindstone now, but more soon!
Excellent!
I’d be down for a Clara rewatch but I never cared for Capaldi. He’s a fine actor, but I couldn’t get used to him as the Doctor. Maybe if I saw it again, I’d like him more.
